  Lystrosaurus

Lystrosaurus

Pronounced: list-row-SAWR-us

Literally, "swamp lizard"

A mammal-like Therapside Reptile, Lystrosaurus lived during the Triassic period, 200 million years ago. The nostrils located high on the skull indicate that like the modern hippopotamus, the plant-eating Lystrosaurus spent much of his life in the water.
