There are seven Counties on the Oregon Coast facing the
Pacific Ocean. Here are links to all of them and
information about how they got their County name.
Without further ado, from north to south, the Oregon
Coast Counties are:
Clatsop County
The county is named for the Clatsop Indians.
Lincoln County
The county is named for President Abraham Lincoln who was the
16th President of the United States .
Tillamook County
The county is named for Tillamook (Killamook or Calamoxes) Indians.
Lane County
The county is named for General Joseph Lane, who was Oregon’s first
territorial governor.
Douglas County
The county is named for Stephen A. Douglas, who was an United States
Senator from Illinois in the 1800s.
Coos County
The county is named for the Indians.
Curry County
The county is named for Territorial Governor, George Law Curry.
